Biographical Information
Victor purchased his first home in 1984. It was that experience that stimulated his interest in real estate. He started is career as a real estate professional in 1986 while employed as systems programmer. His focus shifted and he felt that he was missing his true calling of helping people realize their dreams. He felt that he could no longer grow in the environment of computers and data processing. His focus was fostered by a need to interact with people and helps build our communities rather than machines.
His career grew from a Century21 Centurion office on Wilshire Blvd. There, he learned as much as possible about real estate while utilizing his computer experience to create a successful marriage of clients to property. While implementing that experience, he has been called upon share his knowledge as the Sales Manager of another Century21 with a staff of 60 agents. Under his direction the franchise sales increased 125% while earning accolades and respect within the Century21 Franchise system. It was through this relationship that he became involved with several trade organizations including the California Association of Real Estate Brokers (CAREB), National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB), California Association of Realtors (CAR) and National Association of Realtors (NAR)
As the real estate market evolved, an opportunity manifested itself within one of the most difficult times in the history of California Real estate. California was in the mist of a full economic melt down in the early 90’s. His energy transformed to specialize in the sale of foreclosed property or real estate owned by institutions (REO). He created alliances with other real estate professionals and asset managers to provide his clients with the best opportunities in the market. From those associations, he was offered a career opportunity to become the only African-American asset manager with Fannie Mae’s west coast REO department. His portfolio averaged 250 properties in several west coast states. The REO market was very active and his responsibility was to dispose of as many properties as possible while maximizing the return on the investment. Through that interaction, he was chosen to be the liaison for the company with many business and community organizations. When Fannie Mae centralized its REO operation to Dallas, Texas he was chosen as one of the first west coast field specialist with responsibilities of inspecting the assets and training over 30 brokers in four states. As the real estate market improved and REO inventory dwindled he was given a choice of relocation or taking an executive position with Team Equity LA Property, Inc. (TELA). It was a difficult decision but he chose to remain in California. His position as Vice President of Corporate Sales for Team Equity LA Property, Inc., affords him insight that affects real estate sales in his community.
Immediately upon joining TELA, Victor was appointed to the board of directors of the California Association of Real Estate Brokers (CAREB). This organization, like many others, recognized Victor as a valuable asset to their growth in the real estate market. Since then he has been appointed to the board of the Los Angeles Teachers Mortgage Assistance Program (LATMAP) and the Community Reinvestment Committee (CRC/CRA). He is also a member of the National REO Brokers Association (NRBA).
Corporate success coupled with urban life and extensive real estate knowledge propelled Victor into the field of education (Real estate education). Partnering with Charles “Butch” Grimes, who shared in the same vision created the ‘We Talk Real Estate’ radio show. The show has provided insight and education from renter’s rights to legislative issues. Their passion for real education is best described in their slogan ‘ Inform the uninformed’.
Victor continues to seek opportunities to challenge, inspire and share his knowledge and accomplishment with anyone who needs real estate advice.
